Columbus Consultants Forum Closes With High Marks

Economic developers from 35 states heard from what they said in post evaluation was an "A" list of site consultants, corporate executives and industry thought leaders. Topics including issues effecting the auto industry, advanced manufacturing, data centers, food processing, technology industry and EB-5 strategies were among the dozen presentations in this "all business" program that also included panel and daily roundtable discussions.

The Columbus Region, Jobs Ohio and its six Regional Partners and the City of Columbus were leading Host Sponsors along with 12 other supporting sponsors of this Forum.

Those speakers and attendees who had not been to Columbus in recent years were greatly surprised by the new development and growth the city is experiencing. Attendees were very pleased with the Forum venue at the new "boutique" Hilton Hotel situated between the redeveloped Arena and Short North Districts that allowed all to experience and enjoy the city's many visitor offerings.

Sold Out Charleston Event Ends Another Successful Consultants Forum Year

Mother Nature raised havoc with travel schedules of attendees and speakers alike as both faced weather issues in reaching Charleston, SC. The South Carolina economic development slogan "The Right Place" proved appropriate as most all found their way to the Forum escaping the early winter storms that hit around the country.

The conference agenda covered  a variety of critical subjects. However, central to nearly all the presentations was the emergence of "new energy" and the need for workforce availability and development  and what impact both will have on the near and long term of economic development programs.

Post  attendee evaluations ranked the Charleston Forum one of the highest for quality content, speaker presentation, networking opportunity and overall value of the 35 Forums produced by Area Development in this eight year series.

The 2014 Forum series is now open for registration and sponsorship reservations.

Women In Economic Development Forum Receives Strong Positive Response

The feedback from the nearly 100 professionals and 17 speakers in attendance at the 4th Annual Women in Economic Development Forum that took place in Chicago last week has been overwhelmingly positive. This comment from Shawnda Combs, Economic Development Director, Preble County Development Partnership, Ohio (and a regular Consultants Forum attendee) seemed to capture the WEDF’s essence best.

“All I can say is that this was probably the best conference I’ve been to in the last 3 years.  I’ve never gone to a gender specific conference but I’m so glad that I did!

The content was great, the dialog was informative, and the ability to discuss the nature-of-the-beast without having to be politically correct made the event a real pleasure to attend.

I had/have mentors and saw myself in many of the young women who attended.  This conference is super important for those coming up the ranks but also for those of us who are seasoned and need to see just how much we’ve grown and overcome.  I have recommended the conference to at least 4 other women and hope they will all consider attending next year. Great job!"
